Asher Coston made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Levi Banks, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one triple and one run. That triple was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was River Deisher, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one double.
Meanwhile, Edwards County narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Cisne 7-6. The Lions haven't had any issues with the Runnin' Lions recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Edwards County saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Drew Roosevelt, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most runs Roosevelt has posted since back in March. Dylan Prather was another, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.
Mt. Carmel's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-9. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Edwards County, their record is now 16-4.
Mt. Carmel couldn't quite get it done against Edwards County when the teams last played back in May of 2024 as they fell 9-5. Can the Golden Aces avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
