The Booker Tornadoes will take on the Robinson Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Booker will be looking to extend their current 12-game winning streak.
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Booker walked away with it. They came out on top against the Bruins by a score of 58-50 on Saturday. Given Booker's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 209th, while Bayshore is ranked 466th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jovan Palavra continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 17 points. He is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for four games straight. Another player making a difference was Darius Behn, who scored ten points.
Meanwhile, Robinson pushed their score all the way to 56 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 77-56 walloping at the hands of Gibbs.
Despite the defeat, Robinson had strong showings from Jordan Mickens, who scored 25 points along with eight assists and six rebounds, and Dylan Russell, who scored 17 points along with two steals. Mickens is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 19 or more in the last four games he's played. Donevon Kelly was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Booker has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 matches, which provided a massive bump to their 18-9 record this season. As for Robinson, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-13.
Booker strolled past Robinson in their previous meeting back in February of 2018 by a score of 72-54. The rematch might be a little tougher for Booker since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
