Fernley may have come out ahead in their last matchup, but they shouldn't get too cocky given who is up next. They will take on Churchill County in each of the teams' third playoff contest on Saturday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a win streak alive as Fernley skips in on eight wins and Churchill County on ten.
The Vaqueros earned some more postseason success in their game last week. They managed a 35-30 victory over Cheyenne. The Fernley offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.
Meanwhile, everything went Churchill County's way against Virgin Valley as they made off with a 47-14 win. Elijah Jackson had a stellar game for Churchill County as he picked up 87 yards on the ground on 11 carries and accumulated 238 passing yards.
Fernley came up short against Churchill County the last time the two teams met in September, falling 42-35. Can the Vaqueros avenge their loss, or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll soon find out.
