Westside extended their losing streak to four on Saturday, dropping them down to 2-4. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 9-8 heartbreaker at the hands of the Midland Trail Patriots. The Renegades were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Patriots apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2025.
Westside got a big performance out of Braxton Waldron, who went 1-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Hunter Adkins, who went 2-for-4 with three runs and one RBI.
As for Midland Trail, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted since April 29, 2025.
On Midland Trail's side, Xaylen Johns was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over six innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Johns has posted since back in May of 2025. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That hit marked the first that he has got this season.
In other batting news, Kolton Eades was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. He continues to improve, besting his previous run total in each of the last three games he's played. Gregory Cramer was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run and one double.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Westside will challenge Wyoming East at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Warriors' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Renegades' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Midland Trail, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Poca at 5:00 p.m.
