The Sylva Bay Academy Saints are on the road again on Wednesday and plays the Porter's Chapel Academy Eagles at 7:45 p.m. on February 7th. Hopefully Sylva Bay Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Friday.
While Sylva Bay Academy couldn't quite beat the Lions on Friday, the two-point margin was a huge improvement compared to the 28-point loss they were dealt on Thursday. Sylva Bay Academy fell just short of the Lions by a score of 47-45. Sylva Bay Academy has struggled against the Lions recently, as their matchup on Friday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite their defeat, Sylva Bay Academy saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Lily Hatcher, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and two steals, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Reese Shumock, who scored eight points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Porter's Chapel Academy put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. They enjoyed a cozy 52-38 victory over Briarfield Academy. Despite the win, that was the fewest points Porter's Chapel Academy has scored all year.
Sylva Bay Academy has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-12 record this season. As for Porter's Chapel Academy, they pushed their record up to 5-0 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road.
