The Foothill Cougars will face off against the Las Plumas Thunderbirds at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Foothill took a 12-run defeat the last time they faced off against Sutter, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Foothill came out on top in a nail-biter against Sutter on Friday, sneaking past 2-1.

Elisea Wiegand spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit and racked up 15 Ks. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024.
On the hitting side, Foothill's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Taylor Bates, who scored a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Another was Rylee Vakulich, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.
Foothill hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sutter struck out 15 times.
Meanwhile, Las Plumas got themselves on the board against Nevada Union on Friday, but Nevada Union never followed suit. They blew past the Miners 9-0.
Kendal Headley made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over six innings pitched. What's more, she gave up only five hits, the fewest she's had since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing Three bases. while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Adriana Heredia, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Presley Carlson was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.
The win got Las Plumas back to even at 1-1. As for Foothill, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-1-1.
