Meanwhile, Haltom waltzed into their contest Tuesday with four straight wins but they left with five. They strolled past Lamar with points to spare, taking the game 69-51. Given Haltom's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 176th, while Lamar is ranked 358th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Haltom's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kuol Atak, who scored 25 points along with nine rebounds. The game was Atak's 11th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Baron Smith jr, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 17 rebounds.
The win got Midlothian Heritage back to even at 8-8. As for Haltom, they pushed their record up to 10-5 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road.
