Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Kylie Fortner and Sullivan Price Lead Landrum to Victory

Landrum was handed a heart-breaking three-point loss in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Liberty on Friday. Everything went the Landrum Cardinals' way against the Liberty Red Devils as the Landrum Cardinals made off with a 50-28 victory. The Cardinals have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 22 points or more this season.

Leading Landrum to victory were Sullivan Price and Kylie Fortner. Price dropped a double-double on 14 points and 14 boards, while Fortner posted 23 points and four steals. Fortner has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last nine times she's played. Hazel Cain was another key player, putting up two points along with eight boards and four steals.

Landrum smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Liberty only pulled down 12 offensive rebounds.

Despite the defeat, Liberty saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Madison Henderson put up seven points and six rebounds.

Landrum's win bumped their record up to 6-7. As for Liberty, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-11.

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Landrum Cardinals challenge the Blacksburg Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Blacksburg will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something Landrum surely won't give up without a fight. As for Liberty, they will challenge Pendleton at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Liberty is facing Pendleton at the right time seeing as Pendleton is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
