Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only the Lovington Wildcats walked away with it. They simply couldn't be stopped on Saturday as they easily beat Espanola Valley 52-0 at home. The win was nothing new for Lovington as they're now sitting on five straight.
Lovington had a senior duo take command as Wyatt Gomez threw for 170 yards and four touchdowns on only 16 passes and Demarcus Thompson gained 112 total yards and three touchdowns.
Lovington has yet to lose a contest at home this season, leaving them with a 9-3 record. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 47.5 points per game. As for Espanola Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-4.
Lovington will be playing at home against Silver at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in New Mexico (Silver is ranked 16th, while Lovington is ranked eighth). Espanola Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
