Baseball Recap: Tularosa Makes It 13 in a Row at Home

There's no place like home for Tularosa, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. Everything went their way against the Dexter Demons on Tuesday as they made off with a 16-2 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Wildcats also won the last time the pair played back in March of 2022.

Daniel Yuzos made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with four stolen bases and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Tularosa's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 8-1 (and 4-5 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Hunter Sewell was incredible, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last nine games he's played. Tayton Bridge also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Tularosa always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .647. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Tularosa's victory was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-6. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.1 runs over those games. As for Dexter, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-11.

Coming up, Tularosa will challenge Texico at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Wildcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wolverines have averaged an impressive 7.8 runs per game this season. As for Dexter, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 19-6 loss against Melrose on the 24th.
