The Dunbar Wolverines waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with two straight wins but they left with three. They strolled past Stivers School for the Arts with points to spare, taking the game 64-50. Given Dunbar's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 234th, while Stivers School for the Arts is ranked 530th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Eric Brewer jr continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, shooting 4-for-8 from beyond the arc and dropping a double-double on 32 points and ten rebounds. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Baron White, who scored 17 points.
When it comes to explaining why Stivers School for the Arts lost, one person who can't be blamed is Amaury Hawes. Despite the final result, he scored 22 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Hawes hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Wright, who scored 14 points.
Dunbar's victory bumped their record up to 9-5. As for Stivers School for the Arts, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-9.
Dunbar's road trip will continue as they head out to face Meadowdale at 8:00 p.m. on January 19th. Meadowdale is out to stop a five-game streak of losses at home. Stivers School for the Arts will take on Belmont at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Belmont focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Tuesday.
