The Waverly Tigers will head out to square off against the Meigs Marauders at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Waverly was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Hillsboro on Thursday. The Tigers were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over the Indians.

Lexi Smith made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting three hits from her three at bats.
In other batting news, Hayden Jones was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Jo Colley, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Waverly kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, Meigs put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Chesapeake an 11-0 shutout. Give the Marauders' pitching crew some credit: that's the team's fourth straight shutout.
Like Waverly, Meigs also got a great game from a two-way player: Brooklyn Roush. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. Roush was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one double. That double marked the first that she has hit this season.
In other batting news, Meigs got a massive performance out of Bella Roush, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. That's the most doubles Roush has posted since back in April of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Payton Kranyik, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Meigs' record now sits at 4-0. As for Waverly, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
Saturday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Waverly has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .463. However, it's not like Meigs struggles in that department as they've averaged .513. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
