Pamlico County strolled past the Mariners with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 82-65. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Pamlico County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Koby Lane led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on 25 points and nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lane has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Braylen Ollison, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds.
Loss or not, East Carteret got some senior leadership from Shamel Baker and Charles Matheka. Baker dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten assists, while Matheka. scored 24 points along with two steals and two blocks. Baker also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Brady Doans was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with five rebounds.
Pamlico County has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a massive bump to their 13-8 record this season. As for East Carteret, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-8.
