Reading is 1-9 against Exeter Township since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Red KNights will be playing at home against the Eagles at 4:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Reading will bounce into Monday's contest after beating Berks Catholic, who they had gone 0-7 against in their seven prior meetings. The Red KNights walked away with a 13-8 victory over the Saints on Thursday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Red KNights considering their two-run performance the game before.
Justin DeLaCruz tossed a big game, striking out ten batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off one hit. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, Reading let Samir Diaz Batista and Janser Paredes run wild. Diaz Batista went 4-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Paredes got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those four hits gave Diaz Batista a new career-high. Frandy Ruiz was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Reading always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .553. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Exeter Township, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Cocalico a 4-0 shutout on Friday.
Carter Redding was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Chase Youse, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
Exeter Township is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Reading, their victory bumped their record up to 5-12.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Reading has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Exeter Township struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 2.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
