The St. Francis Knights will be playing at home against the Mount Vernon Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. St. Francis is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak.
Last Friday, St. Francis came up short against Mount Pisgah Christian and fell 24-15. Despite 136 more yards than Mount Pisgah Christian, St. Francis couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.
Meanwhile, Mount Vernon pushed their score all the way to 44 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were just a hair shy of victory and fell 45-44 to Whitefield Academy.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Sam Nazarian, who threw for 324 yards and three touchdowns. Nazarian hasn't dropped below three passing touchdowns for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Walker Warshaw, who rushed for 86 yards and three touchdowns.
St. Francis' defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 1-7. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 10.3 points per game. As for Mount Vernon, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-3.
Everything came up roses for St. Francis against Mount Vernon in their previous meeting back in November of 2022 as the team secured a 42-13 victory. Does St. Francis have another victory up their sleeve, or will Mount Vernon turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
