Suwannee extended their losing streak to five on Thursday, dropping them down to 2-8. They came up short against the Branford Buccaneers, falling 13-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Buccaneers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-4 last Monday.
Brianna Woods was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run. Those doubles were her first of the season.
As for Branford, their record is now 9-4. Considering they have won five matchups by more than eight runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
On Branford's side, Harleigh Price and Mallory Blue made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Price tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Blue didn't allow a single earned run over 4.1 innings pitched. Price has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. At bat, Price went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, and one double, while Blue went 2-for-4 with three runs and two RBI. Those two RBI gave Price a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Victoria Swain, who went 3-for-4 with five RBI. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Hunter Revis, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Coming up, Suwannee will challenge Chiefland at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Branford, they will face off against Bronson at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Buccaneers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season.
