Antonito is 8-1 against Primero since February of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The Antonito Trojans will head out on the road to challenge the Primero Bulldogs at 1:00 p.m. Antonito is no doubt hoping to put an end to a ten-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Antonito struggled with assists on Saturday (Creede had 11 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Antonito had to suffer through a rough 68-40 loss at the hands of Creede. Antonito was down 55-29 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.
Despite the loss, Antonito had strong showings from Destanaya Quintana, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 15 rebounds, and Zanita Garcia, who scored 12 points along with three steals. Quintana is crushing the rebound category: she's posted at least nine every time she's taken the court this season.
Meanwhile, Primero's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their sixth straight defeat. They fell 29-20 to Kim/Branson. Primero has not had much luck with Kim/Branson recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
Antonito's defeat dropped their record down to 1-12. As for Primero, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season.
Antonito came up short against Primero in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, falling 41-29. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Primero's Isabela Maldonado, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 13 rebounds. Now that Antonito knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
