Mountain View faced Cody in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Buffalos fell just short of the Broncs by a score of 3-2. The Buffalos' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Mountain View took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 18-25, 25-18, 27-29, 25-16, 15-10.
Addyson Stephens paced Mountain View's offense, picking up 19 kills. Stephens got some help from Mariah Micheli and her 41 assists. Micheli was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.
Cody can attribute much of their success to Gracie Buck, who had nine digs. That's the most digs Buck has posted since back in November of 2024.
Mountain View's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 17-12-1. As for Cody, the win (which was their 14th in a row) raised their record to 27-1.
Coming up, Mountain View is taking a road trip to face off against Lyman at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Cody, they have already played their next match, a 3-1 victory against Lander Valley on the 11th.
