Basketball Recap: Springstead Drops Season-High Score on Citrus

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Springstead). The stars were shining brightly for them in a 58-40 win over the Citrus Hurricanes on Tuesday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 57-15 back in November.

Leading Springstead to victory were Addisson Osborne and Ariana Willoughby. Osborne almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine boards, while Willoughby posted 14 points in addition to seven boards and five assists. Another player making a difference was Brooke Smith, who had four points in addition to six rebounds and three steals.

Springstead smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 25 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Citrus lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Demi Williamson, who put up 20 points and four steals. With that strong performance, Williamson is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Rachel Chiles, who posted eight points and three steals.

Springstead's record now sits at 9-2. As for Citrus, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.

It'll be Battle of the Birds when the Springstead Eagles take on the Fivay Falcons at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Citrus, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 42-6 victory against Angeline Academy of Innovation on the 18th.
