The Leland Chargers will take on the Gilroy Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Leland will bounce into Tuesday's game after beating Ann Sobrato, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Leland had just enough and edged out Ann Sobrato 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Chargers have posted since April 26, 2024.

Sabrina Chung made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Bella Johnson and Irene Kim did most of the damage at the plate: Johnson went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double, while Kim scored a run and stole a base while going 4-for-4. Those three RBI gave Johnson a new career-high. Sarah Baggott also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Leland kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Gilroy entered their tilt with Branham on Thursday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Bruins.
Ariela Yslava spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit and racked up eight Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Bam Mendoza, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and one stolen base.
The win got Leland back to even at 2-2. As for Gilroy, their victory bumped their record up to 6-3.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Leland has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.2 hits per game. However, it's not like Gilroy struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3.2 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Leland suffered a grim 13-0 defeat to Gilroy in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can Leland avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
