The Mid-Carolina Rebels pushed their score all the way to 58 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 68-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of Abbeville. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Mid-Carolina in their matchups with Abbeville: they've now lost four in a row.
Defeat or not, Mid-Carolina got some senior leadership from Connor Cromer and Jacob Clark. Cromer almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds, while Clark. scored 17 points. Another player making a difference was Kaden Myers, who scored nine points along with five rebounds.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Abbeville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Damarcus Leach, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds. Leach has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last five times he's played. Justin Rollinson was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Mid-Carolina's loss dropped their record down to 8-13. As for Abbeville, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.
Mid-Carolina will head out on the road to take on Saluda at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Saluda has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Abbeville, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Newberry at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Abbeville has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 607 points over their last nine matchups.
