Basketball Recap: Draughn Skates Past Owen with Ease

Draughn won the last time they faced Owen and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Draughn Wildcats claimed a resounding 71-19 victory over the Owen Warhorses. The Wildcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 26 points or more this season.

Owen lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Savannah Hollingsworth, who posted eight points in addition to ten boards and three steals. Another player making a difference was Charlize Smithey, who had six points and eight rebounds.

Draughn has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 4-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.5 points per game. As for Owen, their loss was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-5.

Draughn will head out to take on Avery County at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Avery County will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Draughn surely won't give up without a fight. As for Owen, they will host Tuscola at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Owen is facing Tuscola at the right time seeing as Tuscola is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
