Warwick Veterans scored a stunning upset when it knocked off Westerly, 35-20. At the time, the Bulldogs were ranked 15th in the state, while the Hurricanes were 32nd.
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Westerly, who took down 15th ranked Westerly, 35-20. TJ Boyajian ran for 224 yards in the win.
Warwick Veterans' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Jesse Sedoma threw for 19 and one touchdown and Tony Lonczak had 19 yards receiving.
Thanks to the talents of Sedoma and Boyajian Michael Nappa's team has been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Sedoma leads the league in passing with 424 yards, while Boyajian has rushed for 1066 yards this season. Chariho's Mike Pagliarini leads the league in receiving yards with 158 on 10 catches.
The Chargers' Austin McQuaide needs only 81 yards against Woonsocket next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season. McQuaide has rushed for 919 yards on 141 carries so far this year.
Two of the top units in Division II-A will face off this week when the Hurricanes take on Johnston. Warwick Veterans' offense has recorded 141 points this season, making them No. 1 in the league, while the Panthers have permitted only 30 on the year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Johnston takes on the Hurricanes. Joe Acciardo's team is currently in first, while Warwick Veterans is in fourth.
The Panthers extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Chariho, 40-12. The victory was the sixth in a row for Johnston.
