It was a good run, but the Lakeland Christian Vikings unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 68-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mulberry. Lakeland Christian was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Mulberry apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
D.j. Howard and Nate Carpenter certainly did their best on Tuesday to try and avoid the loss. Howard scored 20 points along with five assists, while Carpenter scored 17 points along with five rebounds. Howard continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Matthew Stephens, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Lakeland Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 11-5. As for Mulberry, their win bumped their record up to 10-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lakeland Christian will take on Out-of-Door Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Mulberry, they will head out on the road to square off against Discovery at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. Discovery presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Mulberry in Florida (Discovery is ranked 187th, while Mulberry is ranked 503rd).
