Montpelier took care of business in their home opener on Tuesday. They walked away with a 6-1 victory over the Pettisville Blackbirds. That's more bragging rights for the Locomotives, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Montpelier's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Hayden Sharps, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave Sharps a new career-high. Griffin Cooley was another, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2.

Pettisville's loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Montpelier is set to challenge their familiar foe Edon at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Pettisville will face off against rival Gorham Fayette at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
