5A Aurora recap Sept. 26, 2012
Rangeview was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fourth to second in 5A Aurora. The Raiders vanquished Northglenn 53-18 earlier in the week.
Gateway led the league in scoring this week after putting up 55 points on Westminster.
Rangeview's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Darien Odegard threw for 229 and two touchdowns and Trevon Nubine had 78 yards receiving. On the ground Odegard chipped in 130 yards. Keitrich Griffin helped Rangeview's passing attack out by catching one ball for 40 yards.
David Gonzales's team's Odegard and Areleous Hughes have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Odegard has thrown for 609 yards this season, while Hughes, a 6-foot-0 receiver, has 10 catches for 252 yards. Aurora Central's Jeffery Tootle leads the league in rushing yards with 488.
A big matchup in 5A Aurora this week will be when the Olympians take on Denver East. Gateway is in first place, while the Angels are in third place.
