If the Fossil Ridge Sabercats were riding high off their 46-25 takedown of the Poudre Impalas last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Fossil Ridge took a 47-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of Windsor. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Fossil Ridge in their matchups with Windsor: they've now lost four in a row.
Fossil Ridge's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Carmen Arkin, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds. Arkin scored a full 41.5% of Fossil Ridge's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lauren Smith, who scored nine points along with five rebounds.
Even though they lost, Fossil Ridge were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Windsor got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Nola Greenwald out in front who scored 14 points. Those 14 points set a new season-high mark for her. Reyleigh Hess was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five rebounds.
Fossil Ridge's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Windsor, their win bumped their record up to 3-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fossil Ridge will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Doherty at 7:00 p.m. on December 15th. Doherty will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 240th, while Fossil Ridge is ranked 100th). As for Windsor, they will head out on the road to face off against Roosevelt at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Roosevelt will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
