The Lincoln Prep Lightning will head out on the road to challenge the Chandler Prep Titans at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Lincoln Prep has given up an average of 11.1 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Lincoln Prep came into their game on Friday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against San Tan Charter, falling 19-3. The loss continues a trend for the Lightning in their meetings with the Roadrunners: they've now lost three in a row.
Meanwhile, Chandler Prep entered their tilt with Gilbert Classical Academy on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Spartans with a sharp 15-0 victory. Considering the Titans have won nine matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Derek Tucker made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Robby Hirsch, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Ryan Hong, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
Chandler Prep was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gilbert Classical Academy only posted a batting average of .188.
Chandler Prep's record now sits at 14-7. As for Lincoln Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-11.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Lincoln Prep has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Chandler Prep struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.5 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Lincoln Prep came up short against Chandler Prep in their previous meeting back in April of 2025, falling 12-9. Can the Lightning avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
