The Patterson Lumberjacks lost against the Newman Greenies back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. Patterson ended up on the wrong side of a rough 49-27 walloping at the hands of Newman. While losing is never fun, Patterson can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 110th, while Newman is ranked ninth).
Newman got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Christopher Cenac out in front who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 14 rebounds. Cenac is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down nine or more in the last five games he's played. Todd Jones was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds.
Patterson's loss dropped their record down to 13-16. As for Newman, they pushed their record up to 15-10 with that victory, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Patterson will take on Donaldsonville at TBD on Tuesday. As for Newman, they will be playing at home against King Charter at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
