The Desert Vista Thunder can now show off nine landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Highland 92-44 on the road. With Desert Vista ahead 49-28 at the half, the match was all but over already.
Desert Vista's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Dylan Swindle led the charge by scoring 25 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Trinity Jones, who scored 16 points along with six steals.
Highland's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Madilyn Gewirtz, who scored seven points along with three blocks. Another player making a difference was Emilee Searle, who scored 17 points.
Desert Vista has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. As for Highland, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Desert Vista's road trip will continue as they head out to face Gilbert at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Gilbert will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. As for Highland, they will head out on the road to challenge Desert Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Desert Ridge is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 50.5 points per game.
