The Y Yuma's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their seventh straight defeat. They fell 40-31 to Merino. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Y in their matchups with Merino: they've now lost four in a row.
Despite the loss, Y had strong showings from Alina Moran, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds, and Bailey Nighswonger, who scored six points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Moran has scored all season.
Y dropped their record down to 9-8 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Merino, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 17-0.
Y will head out on the road to take on Caliche at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Y focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 31 on Friday. As for Merino, they will be playing at home against Otis at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Otis has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
