The Tyler Legacy Raiders fought the good fight in their overtime contest against the Mesquite Skeeters on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Skeeters by a score of 71-69. Tyler Legacy was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Mesquite apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January.
Tyler Legacy lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Ja'corian Oes, who almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine rebounds. Oes is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Jones, who scored 20 points.
This is the second loss in a row for Tyler Legacy and nudges their season record down to 17-15. As for Mesquite, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 12-18 record this season.
Tyler Legacy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Mesquite, they will head out on the road to take on Rockwall-Heath at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mesquite knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven matches -- so hopefully Rockwall-Heath likes a good challenge.
