The Alta Loma Braves will face off against the San Dimas Saints at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Alta Loma is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.
Alta Loma easily dispatched Colony on Wednesday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Braves fell just short of Los Altos by a score of 8-6 on Friday.
Isabella Galindo was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one triple. Another player making a difference was Lexi Rodriguez, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for San Dimas, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They were the clear victors by a 17-5 margin over Colony on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Saints, who have now won seven matches by ten runs or more so far this season.
Isabella Martinez looked comfortable as she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.
On the hitting side, San Dimas got a massive performance out of Tiffany Villegas, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most runs Villegas has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Graciela Alt-Ambriz, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
San Dimas always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .606. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Alta Loma's defeat dropped their record down to 10-8. As for San Dimas, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 12-9-1.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Alta Loma hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .340. However, it's not like San Dimas struggles in that department as they've averaged .343. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Alta Loma skirted past San Dimas 6-5 in their previous matchup on April 11th. Will the Braves repeat their success, or do the Saints have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
