The David Crockett Pioneers''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 56-21 loss at the hands of Sevier County. While losing is never fun, David Crockett can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee football rankings (they are ranked 231st, while Sevier County is ranked 46th).
When it comes to explaining why David Crockett lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jake Whaley. Despite the final result, he rushed for 50 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 133 yards and a touchdown.
Malachi Pate had a dynamite game for Sevier County, rushing for 138 yards and two touchdowns, while also catching a touchdown. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Newman, who threw for 194 yards and four touchdowns while completing 73.3% of his passes.
David Crockett has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season. As for Sevier County, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-1.
David Crockett does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Sevier County will be playing in front of their home fans against Knoxville Central at 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd.
