Basketball Recap: Kael Carney and Drew Paine Secure Win for Thunderridge

ThunderRidge posted their biggest win since December 5, 2024 on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Castle View Sabercats as the ThunderRidge Grizzlies made off with an 82-57 victory. The match was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Grizzlies had established a 21 point advantage.

Leading ThunderRidge to victory were Drew Paine and Kael Carney. Paine dropped a double-double on 24 points and ten rebounds, while Carney went 6 of 11 from beyond the arc on his way to 22 points. The dominant performance gave Carney a new career-high in points. Ulysses Brown was another key player, putting up eight points in addition to six boards and three steals.

ThunderRidge smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Castle View only pulled down ten offensive rebounds.

Despite the defeat, Castle View had strong showings from Evan Mckean, who posted 18 points along with five assists and five rebounds, and Blake Graham, who went 5 for 11 en route to 15 points. The game was Graham's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Braden Monson, who had eight points.

ThunderRidge's win bumped their record up to 11-5. As for Castle View, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-11.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. ThunderRidge will challenge Rock Canyon at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Rock Canyon knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five contests -- so hopefully ThunderRidge likes a good challenge. As for Castle View, they will take on Legend at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Castle View is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.4 points per game this season.
