Brookhaven is 8-2 against North Pike since November of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Brookhaven Panthers will head out on the road to take on the North Pike Jaguars at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in Brookhaven's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three games.
Brookhaven pushed their score all the way to 59 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 67-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of Provine. Brookhaven has not had much luck with Provine recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Despite their loss, Brookhaven saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Jaylen Haliburton, who scored 17 points along with two steals, was perhaps the best of all. Haliburton is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamarius Malone, who scored 13 points.
Brookhaven struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, North Pike's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their sixth straight loss. They were the victim of a rough 67-43 loss at the hands of South Jones. While losing is never fun, North Pike can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 227th, while South Jones is ranked 60th).
Brookhaven's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-5. As for North Pike, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-18.
Brookhaven strolled past North Pike in their previous matchup on January 9th by a score of 69-51. The rematch might be a little tougher for Brookhaven since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
