The Miramonte Matadors will be home for the holidays to greet the El Camino Colts at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
Miramonte fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Benicia on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 65-62. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Loss or not, Miramonte got some senior leadership from Marcus Robinson who scored 25 points along with six rebounds and Thomas Zwahlen who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. Robinson scored a full 40.3% of Miramonte's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Chris Kaufhold, who scored seven points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, El Camino was just a bucket shy of victory on Thursday and fell 42-41 to Burlingame. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points El Camino has scored all season.
This is the second loss in a row for Miramonte and nudges their season record down to 4-2. As for El Camino, they now have a losing record at 3-4.
