The Butler Bears had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.5 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They strolled past Warsaw with points to spare, taking the game 56-39. Given Butler's advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 169th, while Warsaw is ranked 483rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Despite the loss, Warsaw saw an underclassman step up: Luke Henderson scored 19 points along with six rebounds. It was the first time this season that Henderson scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Noah Siebert, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds.
Warsaw struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Butler has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. As for Warsaw, their loss was their eighth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-17.
Butler will head out on the road to square off against Oak Grove at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Butler is facing Oak Grove at the right time seeing as Oak Grove is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Warsaw, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 50-36 win vs. Lawson on the 10th.
