Softball Recap: Breaux Bridge Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Breaux Bridge came tearing into Tuesday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Westminster Christian Academy Crusaders as they made off with an 11-1 win. The Tigers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Crusaders, too.

Zoey Simoneaux made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Simoneaux was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI.

In other batting news, Gracie Hebert was a standout: she scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Brandi Williams was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4.

Breaux Bridge was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .640. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .441 or higher in four consecutive contests.

Breaux Bridge's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-15. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Westminster Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.

Looking ahead, Breaux Bridge will head out on the road to face off against Opelousas Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Westminster Christian Academy, they will welcome St. Martinville at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
