Central Connecticut I East recap Oct. 9, 2012
Glastonbury extended the longest winning streak in Central Connecticut I East this week by beating Manchester, 20-8. This was the team's fourth consecutive win.
Newington made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 9,818 from 10,407. The improvement was the result of 42-26 victory over East Hartford last week.
The Indians' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Jake Hedberg threw for 142 and two touchdowns and Chris Beauford had 85 yards receiving. On the ground Eric Ryan chipped in 147 yards. Adam Murphy helped Newington's passing attack out by catching one ball for 38 yards.
Newington's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Indians feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Hedberg has thrown for 663 yards and five touchdowns this season, while Zachary Morris has 17 catches for 228 yards. Ryan leads the league in rushing with 300 yards.
