Basketball Recap: Algoma's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Friday

It was a good run, but Algoma unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Friday. They fell to the Brillion Lions 45-40. If the Wolves were looking for revenge after losing 53-36 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Brillion found their leader in sophomore Emma Schuh, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. Schuh has been hot, having posted eight or more boards the last six times she's played. Camden Hale was another key player, going 5 of 11 on her way to 13 points.

Algoma's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-3. As for Brillion, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 7-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Algoma will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Gibraltar at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. As for Brillion, they will face off against St. Mary Catholic at 7:15 p.m. on January 3, 2025. Brillion is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.2 points per game this season.
