Prairiland is 1-7 against Rains since December of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Prairiland Patriots will look to defend their home court against the Rains Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. The timing isn't great for Prairiland: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Rains has snatched up ten consecutive wins on the road dating back to last season.
Prairiland was handed a 22-point loss in their previous outing, but they didn't let that bad energy affect their game against Grand Saline on Friday. Prairiland came out on top in a nail-biter against Grand Saline and snuck past 38-35. The win was just what Prairiland needed coming off of a 53-31 loss in their prior match.
Even though Rains has not done well against Edgewood recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Rains enjoyed a cozy 49-34 win over Edgewood. Given Rains' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 64th, while Edgewood is ranked 231st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
The win got Prairiland back to even at 13-13. As for Rains, they are on a roll lately: they've won 19 of their last 20 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 25-2 record this season.
Prairiland was dealt a bruising 94-19 loss at the hands of Rains when the teams last played back in December of 2023. The contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Prairiland was down 46-11.
