Basketball Recap: Corydon Central Makes It Six in a Row at Home

While Corydon Central didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They were the clear victor by a 51-30 margin over the Southwestern Rebels on Saturday. The Panthers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 21 points or more this season.

Leading Corydon Central to victory were Jack Fessel and Grant Lindemann. Fessel went 6 for 10 on his way to 16 points and three steals, while Lindemann went 5 of 10 on his way to 17 points and six rebounds. Fessel has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of T-Mac Wilkinson, who posted seven points in addition to seven boards and six assists.

Southwestern lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Jeter Chatham, who put up nine points and eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Brady Cook, who had six points.

Corydon Central pushed their record up to 9-2 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.7 points per game. As for Southwestern, their loss ended a six-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 7-3.

Coincidentally, Corydon Central and Southwestern will both be playing Rock Creek Academy the next time they take the court. Corydon Central will head out to face Rock Creek Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, while Southwestern will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
