West Jersey - Diamond recap September 24, 2013
Woodstown's Semaj Thomas recorded the longest rushing play in West Jersey - Diamond this season in his game against Pitman last week. Thomas' team beat the Panthers as he sprinted for 75 yards on the play and finished with 92 in all.
Schalick moved up to 208 from 249 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Cougars were able to move up by topping Gloucester City 27-18.
Deandre Solomon was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 179 yards on 20 carries as Schalick topped Pitman. Teammate Tyrell Hart added to the ground attack by rushing for 137 yards.
Derin Sweeney put up the best numbers in passing as Highland Regional defeated Woodrow Wilson. He had a total of 3 completions for 61 yards.
Solomon was a passing and rushing force as Seth Brown's team beat the Lions.
Melvin Allen made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Cougars defeated Gloucester City. The 6-foot-3 senior.
Thomas was the best receiver in West Jersey - Diamond this week as John Adams' team defeated Gene Reid's team.
5-foot-11 quarterback Sweeney of the Tartans is the league leader in passing yards this season with 119. He has also thrown 2 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Thomas. The Woodstown star has 2 catches for 71 yards.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Glassboro takes on the Wolverines. The Bulldogs are in sixth place, while Woodstown is in first place.
The Wolverines took down the Panthers 55-8 last week, the largest margin of any game. Sam Nowicki threw for 44 yards and ran for 19 yards during the win.
