The University Christian Christians will head out on the road to challenge the Ponte Vedra Sharks at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. University Christian's defense has only allowed 25.4 points per game this season, so Ponte Vedra's offense will have their work cut out for them.
Last Saturday, University Christian didn't have too much trouble with ED White at home as they won 52-36. Given University Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 95th, while ED White is ranked 244th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
University Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tacarri Neal, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Alanna Tatum, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds.
Ponte Vedra posted their biggest victory yet this season on Wednesday. They blew past Fleming Island 63-31 on the road. The win made it back-to-back wins for Ponte Vedra.
University Christian's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-4. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.2 points per game. As for Ponte Vedra, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season.
University Christian was able to grind out a solid win over Ponte Vedra in their previous matchup back in November of 2021, winning 52-43. The rematch might be a little tougher for University Christian since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
