The Westside Rams will challenge the Fountain Inn Fury at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Westside's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They blew past Emerald 19-0. The Rams have beaten the Vikings the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Vikings has come to flipping the script.
Amelia Wilson was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Starlyn Clardy, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Westside kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in 12 consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Fountain Inn hadn't done well against Wren recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Fury were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Hurricanes.
Halle Baker spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits.
On the hitting side, Fountain Inn let Bethany Brown and Olivia Lieb run wild. Brown went 1-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Lieb went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Mia Anderson, who went 1-for-3 with four RBI and one run.
Fountain Inn is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.4 runs over those games. As for Westside, their victory bumped their record up to 11-6.
Tuesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Westside has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .549. However, it's not like Fountain Inn struggles in that department as they've averaged .492. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
