The Wellington-Napoleon Tigers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fifth straight loss. They were beaten by Lafayette County 79-36. While losing is never fun, Wellington-Napoleon can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 473rd, while Lafayette County is ranked 61st).
Several Tigers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jonny Hampton, who scored six points. The team also got some help courtesy of Haden Terrill, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds.
Wellington-Napoleon's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Lafayette County, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 10-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wellington-Napoleon will square off against Kingsville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Kingsville will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive. As for Lafayette County, they will head out on the road to face off against Knob Noster at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
