This season hasn't been kind to the Center Point Eagles, who are still winless after their 26th contest. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 71-47 walloping at the hands of Pinson Valley on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Center Point can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 311th, while the Indians are ranked 21st).
Pinson Valley was led to victory by Quay Lynch and Austin Coner. Lynch scored 23 points, while Coner shot 5-for-10 from deep and almost dropped a double-double on 22 points and nine rebounds. Coner continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Camron Frost was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and 12 rebounds.
Center Point's loss was their 17th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-26. As for Pinson Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 16-10.
Center Point will square off against the Rockets at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Pinson Valley, they will take on the Blue Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Mortimer Jordan is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak.
