Northeast Ohio - River recap Oct. 3, 2012
Carl Lint of North Royalton ran for the longest rushing play in Northeast Ohio - River this season against Normandy last week. Lint ran for 35 yards on the play and finished with 77 on the day as his team bested the Invaders.
Hunter Parsh and Jordan Connell provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Valley Forge. The connection went for 78 yards, the longest such play in the league this season.
Parsh and Jumarr Lewis gave Elyria a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Parsh threw for 336 yards and three touchdowns, while Lewis ran for 89 yards. Teammate Zack Minney added to the ground attack by rushing for 12 yards.
Travis Tarnowski provided a threat through the air and on the ground as North Royalton beat Normandy. He completed 15 passes for 328 yards and three touchdowns and also ran for 12 yards. Tarnowski's favorite target this week was Mike Hudec, who caught five passes for 138 yards.
Nick Ciulli's team's Tarnowski and Nick Krempasky have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Tarnowski has thrown for 1566 yards this season, while Krempasky, a 6-foot-3 receiver, has 21 catches for 438 yards. The Pioneers' Connell leads the league in rushing yards with 575.
A big matchup in Northeast Ohio - River this week will be when the Bears take on Mayfield. As it stands, North Royalton is in first, while the Wildcats are in third.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Hudson takes on Stow-Munroe Falls. The Explorers have allowed 134 points this season, while the Bulldogs have given up 139. Hudson allowed 12 points last week as it bested Garfield Heights.
The Bears extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Rich Turner's team, 49-17. The win marks sixth in a row for the North Royalton.
