On Saturday, the Stilwell Indians faced the Idabel Warriors in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The match between the two teams wasn't particularly close, with Stilwell falling 74-55. They were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Idabel apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2020.
When it comes to explaining why Stilwell lost, one person who can't be blamed is Snowda Watie. Despite the final result, she scored 23 points along with eight assists and eight rebounds. Watie has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played. Another player making a difference was Katelyn Wilson, who scored six points along with five steals.
Stilwell's loss dropped their record down to 13-4. As for Idabel, the win was the 13th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Stilwell will take on Poteau at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Poteau will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Oklahoma Rankings (they are ranked 148th, while Stilwell is ranked 18th). As for Idabel, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Broken Bow at 6:30 p.m. One thing working in Broken Bow's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three contests.
